(Nashville, TN) December 8, 2011 - Rachel Chan's highly anticipated debut project, Go, hits stores on January 10, 2012, released through in:ciite Media and its distribution partner EMI-CMG Christian Music Distribution. The 16-year-old daughter of New York Times Best-Selling Author, Pastor and Speaker Francis Chan, is excited to step into the spotlight to share her fresh, youthful sound and lyrics with an audience to which she can relate - teens.
"I'm excited to share my new music with everyone, especially people my age," said Rachel. "If one of my songs impacts an individual in a positive way and inspires them to spread the name of Jesus Christ, then I've accomplished my Goal for Go. Teens need to hear from someone who ultimately understands and can relate to their struggles."
Rachel's music has provided her with an opportunity to reach her peers at a level of mutual understanding and talk to them about their day-to-day struggles through songs like "Even Here" and "Prove It," which is the new radio single featuring a surprising collaboration with her famous dad, who is given a chance to share his thoughts in the middle of the song. It's a funny twist on how a Godly relationship between a father and daughter should look.
The songs on Go represent Rachel's first foray into the world of songwriting with her seasoned pop-music producer, Dave Lubben (Kutless) and are a unique take on life's experiences. Rachel, having never considered herself a songwriter, co-wrote all 10 songs on the record. For Rachel, relying on the Lord for lyrics was the only option for the CD. "Writing these songs reminded me all over again exactly what I love about my Savior, and the things He does in my daily life that make me Go weak in the knees," explained Rachel.
The cohesive messages found on Go are simple, yet powerful: to love the Lord, to love people, and to exemplify the Lord's call to disciple.
Rachel's Christmas single "Hey, It's Not My Birthday" is impacting radio with spins in several markets including KCMS Seattle, Wash., WAFJ Augusta, Ga., KGBI Omaha, Neb., WFRN South Bend, Ind., and WHRZ Spartanburg, S.C. The Christmas single is available at iTunes.
With the CD release right around the corner, Rachel is excited about finding the balance between attending public school and Chinese language class, TV appearances and touring. Her 2012 tour plans are shaping up to include dates with the Rend Collective Experiment and her dad, performances at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention and Exposition, and the Lifeway Girl's Conference.
